Flyin’ by on the Hawaiian roller coaster ride – Stitch and Angel

Posted in Made on Twitch by

In addition to creating the astronaut piece for the show, I wanted to make a larger piece that I could showcase that would fit the theme of ‘love’. One of my Twitch friends said she would love to commission a Stitch and Angel piece, so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to create something for the show. I drew this piece up before I started my Twitch stream (as I often do) and here are a couple of screen caps from my 4 hour stream working on it.

With such a large piece, it was way more helpful to label all the parts on my template so that I didn’t cut things the wrong color (which I always end up doing anyways, and this was no exception)

This piece was designed to fit in a 8″x10″ frame, and is one of the larger pieces that I have created.

The final piece picture is not great, but I wanted to show what the background ended up looking like. I worked for about 2.5 more hours to create the ocean and sun, each wave is individually cut out and backed. I really think this piece came out super cute and I hope that one day a cute couple hangs it on their wall.

I love you to the Moon and back – The Astronaut

Posted in Uncategorized by

As the art show is rapidly approaching, I realized that I don’t really have much that speaks to the theme of ‘love’. I have been playing a lot of Astroneer lately and am generally obsessed with space and the like, so I decided to whip up this astronaut piece that I instantly fell in love with (no pun intended).

Generally, I do not use precreated elements for my work (printed parts, confetti, etc.) but once I created this piece, I knew I had to add one of my favorite phrases, “I love you to the Moon and back”. The only way I felt that this could be best executed was through print, so despite much internal struggle, I whipped up this small little plate to add to the piece that I really feel ties it all together.

I used some nice shimmery texture paper for the blue elements and space suit as well as a small piece of mirror paper for the helmet.

Recently I agreed to take part in an upcoming local art show – while these always prove to be very fun, they also prove to give me a fair amount of anxiety too. The theme of the show is loosely around “love” and I personally do not have a lot of current inventory that fits this theme, so I have been hard at work the last few days working on brainstorming some new ideas for things to work on prior to the show. Pictured below are a few Mickey Mouse hand hearts based on one of my favorite pins on my jacket. Once fully completed they will be mounted on blank cards.
